Most of people don’t use event transportation frequently. Once they order the service on rare occasions, they have their own expectations: they think of a newer and clean car with an excellent driver. An expectation regarding the car is pretty simple and we always meet and exceed those expectations. When there are diverse expectations regarding the driver, things get more complicated.

It can be easy to think of the driver as just a part of the service, but the driver is a human being, too. That being the case, it means that a driver has personality of his or her own which can vary considerably. Some drivers are: outgoing and communicative, shy, formal, or very relaxed. Which type is preferable? That depends on a number of things such as the occasion or mood of the party, but most of all it depends on who you ask.

We, at W-Limo, do instruct our drivers on their general demeanor, how to handle different situations, and make sure our drivers follow our acceptable procedures to provide high-quality service. But the personality of the driver still plays a role nevertheless. While it’s important to establish good rapport with the customer, a limo driver should always remember to stay on the sidelines and be helpful but not imposing. Likewise, being too formal or distant may make guests uncomfortable. Being attentive, courteous, and displaying a positive attitude usually goes a long way. A touch of good humor is generally welcome with most customers.

Then there are practical aspects related to driver conduct. When picking up a wedding party, a driver should park in front of the hotel or church whenever possible. Sometimes, due to physical restrictions, the limo may be parked on the side. In this case the driver should make sure it is visible by the members of the party. Also, the driver should hold the door open for the newlyweds while entering the vehicle. Occasionally members of the wedding party may block the driver’s way if someone reaches for the door before he or she manages to get to it, we would hope it wouldn’t be held against our driver. We do make every effort to treat our customers in a friendly and dignified way, and we believe that it makes it easier for them to respond in kind.
